Regional Conference in Amman 12th –13th October 2009
Mannheim. Announcement for the “Regional E-Learning Conference" in
Amman, Jordan:
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector is one of
the fastest growing sectors today. With a quickly expanding
infrastructure, it is becoming a key technology for other sectors and is
providing a growing number of employment opportunities.
To cope with these challenges, new instruments and methods need to
be developed and introduced to improve the quality in Technical and
Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and to respond positively to
technological modernisation needs.
IT-based learning in this context offers a wide range of opportunities and
may lead to a paradigm shift in TVET, making e-learning a cost-efficient
yet didactically accepted way of extending knowledge and training to a
various number of students.
With this conference InWEnt and its partner organizations the European
Training Foundation (ETF), UNESCO's International Centre for
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNESCO-UNEVOC),
the National Center for Human Resources Development (NCHRD) of
Jordan, the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) of Jordan and the
Productivity and Vocational Training Department (PVTD) of Egypt offer
a platform for decision makers and TVET professionals to become
informed and to discuss recent developments in this field.
The main objectives of the Conference are twofold:
- To promote and disseminate the experiences of innovative
methods and instruments for teacher training and to facilitate the
application of e-learning in TVET.
- To launch the TVET Portal as a focal point for all those who are
seeking a powerful community of practise in this domain.
The programme is offering a large variety of highlights, giving
participants vast opportunities to share knowledge and the opportunity
to discuss with international and regional experts how e-
learning may emerge in the MENA region (Middle East and North
Africa). Especially the following subjects will be covered during the two
days:
- E-learning as a driver for organisational, technological and
pedagogical changes;
- Labour market orientation of TVET through e-learning;
- E-learning as a new paradigm for TVET providers;
- New approaches in teacher training – methodological and
didactical aspects;
- Presentation of the new TVET Portal for the MENA region;
- Free and open source e-learning application programmes, and
- Marketing of TVET services and products.
