TVET and E-Learning Conference in Amman
From October 12 to 13 the conference “Challenges of TVET in Arab Countries – Innovation through E-Learning” was held in Amman, Jordan.
The conference was planned and organized by InWEnt – Capacity Building International together with the European Training Foundation (ETF), UNESCO-UNEVOC and with partner organisations from Egypt (Productivity and Vocational Vocational Training Department) and Jordan (Vocational Training Corporation).
About 135 experts from 13 Arab and European countries were participating.
In his opening speech His Excellency the Minister of Labour in Jordan Mr. Ghazi Shbeikat emphazised the need for labour market orientation of vocational training to fight the high rate of unemployment in Jordan. For this purpose information and communication technologies and E-Learning play an important role.
InWEnt representative Dr. Luiz Ramalho stressed the cooperation between InWEnt and the private sector and the importance of sustainably vocational training within an efficient Vocational training system.
During the conference the internet based “TVET-Portal – The Arab Gate to TVET” was launched. This portal was planned and implemented by participants of an InWEnt long term training programme in Germany. This portal in Arabic and English language aims to support professionals in the field of vocational training (managers, teachers, instructors) in all Arab countries. It offers a variety of relevant information as well as access to discussion and communication areas. At the closing ceremony of the conference more than 120 users were registered on the portal.
During plenary and working group sessions multiple questions concerning the implementation of E-Learning in TVET were discussed, such as E-Didactics, Open Source Software, Teacher Training and many others.
