Egypt

With approx. 74 Mill. inhabitants Egypt is the most densely populated country of North Africa. The growth rate of the population amounted to 1.7% (est.) in the year 2007. Egypt is the second largest Arab national economy and takes a central place in the region.

Egypt is for Germany the third  most important trade partner in Arabic region .

Since the 1990's Egypt is undergoing an extensive reform process towards the introduction and stabilization of elements of a free market economy. Therefore the Egyptian government defined four strategic goals in the field of TVET:

- development of a national qualification framework to support lifelong learning

- development of a system for immediate reaction to the needs of the labour market,

- to establish new legal bases for vocational training institutions and

- support of the mobility of workers.
